Our recent trip to Cuba began in an unexpected way. Just before our arrival, the island was struck by a hurricane, leaving the city of Havana in darkness. Flights were delayed, and as we finally arrived, we experienced a surreal drive through a city completely without power—a reminder of both the challenges this nation faces and the resilience of its people.
By morning, power was restored to our accommodations, and our team, comprised of members from the U.S. and Costa Rica, was eager to begin. Partnering with the Roque Family and other local pastors, we were honored to come alongside them in ministry and witness their unwavering dedication to serving their community.
Moments of Ministry and Rest
Throughout the trip, we focused on strengthening relationships, sharing encouragement, and praying for God’s hand to guide and bless Cuba. Our final full day, a Sunday, was particularly special. We had the privilege of taking the Roque Family to Varadero Beach for a rare day of rest.
The turquoise waters and tropical breeze provided the perfect setting for deep conversations about life, ministry, and the future. It was a joy to see the children experience the beach for the first time, and sharing a seafood paella lunch together was a highlight of the day.
A Bittersweet Departure
Leaving Cuba is always difficult. As we prepared for our journey home, we prayed fervently for the Roque Family and the nation of Cuba—prayers for protection, divine strategy, and the Lord’s favor to rest upon them.
As we returned to the U.S., we reflected on the five days we spent in Havana. God’s presence was evident throughout the trip, opening hearts and creating bonds that transcend borders and circumstances.
As our dear brother Roque says, “Together, we are better.”
Thank you to all who support our ministry through prayer and giving. Your partnership enables us to serve and connect with extraordinary people around the world. May the seeds planted in Cuba bear fruit for His Kingdom!
