A Mission Begins: Preparing Hearts and Minds
Our journey to the Dominican Republic began with prayerful anticipation as we headed to Montecristi, on the western side of the country. Partnering with Dr. Matt and Molly Olsen, as well as our very own Victor and Laurie Cruz, we were honored to host the PAREJAS Marriage Seminar. The goal was clear: to bring life and freedom to couples, pastors, and leaders through the power of the Gospel.
Friday: Kicking Off with a Powerful Start
After a morning of strategy meetings, our team had a brief opportunity to explore El Morro Natural Park, a breathtaking display of God’s creation. But the highlight of the day came that evening when over 60 individuals gathered at the oldest Protestant church in the Dominican Republic, established in 1889 by an American missionary.
Dr. Matt Olsen delivered a message that was both powerful and life-giving, resonating deeply with the audience. Attendees left encouraged, sharing comments like, “This was exactly what we needed.”
Saturday: Equipping Leaders for Kingdom Impact
The momentum continued on Saturday as 110 pastors and church leaders attended the seminar. Together, Matt, Molly, Victor, and Laurie led conversations centered on biblical principles for marriage and ministry.
The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees expressed gratitude, saying, “We needed this,” and we were reminded of the vital role these gatherings play in equipping leaders to serve their communities effectively. Afterward, we shared a delicious Dominican meal with our hosts, a time of fellowship that strengthened bonds and reinforced the unity we have in Christ.
Sunday: A Transformative Conclusion
Sunday marked the culmination of the weekend’s events. Dr. Olsen shared a simple yet powerful word that moved hearts and minds. The service ended with a precious time of prayer, as our team interceded for dozens of individuals, lifting their burdens to the Lord.
We left Montecristi filled with gratitude and anticipation, sensing that this was just the beginning of what God has planned. The feedback from the event has been overwhelming. We learned that the seminar was streamed to an even wider audience, and comments continue to pour in. One host, Pastor Rederto Rodriguez, expressed his excitement, saying, “We must do this in other regions of the country.”
Looking Ahead: More to Come for His Glory
This weekend was a powerful reminder of God’s ability to use His people to bring healing, restoration, and hope. We’re thrilled by what took place in Montecristi and look forward to seeing how God expands this ministry to reach even more people across the Dominican Republic.
Thank you for believing in this mission, for supporting us, and for praying over this event. To God be the glory as we continue to go, give, teach, and love in the name of the One, Jesus Christ!
